It seems the best way to have what one needs would be to ask...
Within a very few hours of posting, on Tuesday, I had received a veritable avalanche of eMail; encouraging, supportive communication abundant with expressions of love, of acknowledgement, even awe at the complete, raw candor articulated in the writing. I've been copied on glowing recommendations sent by friends and acquaintances to those in positions of potential, letters of reference and referral that have been written and sent, unasked. Right away, the phone began to ring with enquiries as to the specifics of what might be my primary focus and goals on this next turn of my career path; followed immediately with outreach by a raft of others in my interest.
As a result, I had four or five outstanding First [phone] Interviews, last week, as well as two, excellent First Meetings and a powerful Second-level interview. On Monday, I have a Third-level interview with a massive multinational as well as a meeting with an individual of great influence within the theatrical community, here in NYC; followed on Tuesday by a "C-Level" Pitch Meeting at the offices of the global agency to present the concept had in my early-morning Eureka Moment a few weeks back.
Much going on. Nothing solid to report, yet the momentum has shifted and built, substantially, over the past few days, into something that seems powerful and -- more importantly -- positive. Oppressive weight has lifted, and Optimism has taken a more central and solid role in my perspective and point of view. Though this could be temporary, it feels more profound than that. I believe this shift is manifesting more fundamentally, and that the seeds planted over the past twelve weeks may well be beginning to germinate.
What was needed was the right fertilizer and the best and clearest light.
We shall see.
From unforeseen places, I have been offered roof-covered beds to keep me safe and dry for the coming two weeks, as well as the month of December. Ergo, the immediate gaps are lessening.
It is quite possible that I will be working, again, in the not-so-distant future. Notwithstanding this, it may yet be a while, given even that, before I am in a position to take on an apartment of my own (a Moment for which I am in great anticipation, assuredly). I will have had to have had an income for a bit before that can be a reality; thus do remain in need of shelter over the impending short term.
If, however, this has been any indication; I am confident that the next few months may well continue to unfold as has this last week. The telephone calls, the mail, the immediate and authentic outreach from as far away as 40 years ago has been startling and rejuvenating.
Love continues to bloom, momentum gathers and, above all, my own confidence is taking stronger root in this new garden.
More when there's more... Meanwhile, my heartfelt thanks to those who have reached out to me in ways I completely did not expect.

Hurray! Progress...for someone who completely deserves progress. :-)
ReplyDeleteHurray! The correct use of the word, "enquire"!
(I know...I'm a silly writer who loves learning about these things and improving my wordsmithualization.)
Love,
Doug
