Accountability, Responsibility...

...and, evermore, Lessons in Humility...

I repeatedly re-appreciate the time it's going to take to rebuild a life...this life...my life...from the little that is left of it after the final straw of the Australian Debacle... Ugh.

Professionally, things seem so bleak at the moment that I think I'll forego the Overview, this week, if only to give us ALL a break.

I sorely need apt/house/dog/cat-sitting gigs, though; I have nothing until the 27th-31st, then the 9th-17th, and nothing beyond that.

The personal upheaval is taking its profound toll on peace of mind, to say the least. I am ongoingly frustrated in wanting an "anchor" location so that I can cease carrying my stuff around town, wondering where I left my brown slacks, cooking and freezing meals and then remembering to move them from one freezer to the next....wondering where the Next one might be...

It finally dawned on me, as I grasp the scope of time this is likely to last, that perhaps I am seeking this Anchor in the wrong place. A constant in my life, a very personal constant, is my commitment to myself to compete in Physique again in the Gay Games in Cologne, this coming August.

The Gym can be my constant.

Still, I must carry my worldly goods everywhere, but if I focus on what I am trying to achieve, again, with my body that now carries four more (rough) years on it, and find value in my daily and weekly personal accomplishments rather than in the phone calls not being returned and the CV submissions gone unacknowledged, I may have a better chance at maintaining a positive attitude...an attitude that can only help in all other areas, as well.

Thus, I have "put it out there" that this is a goal.

Accountability.

If others know I'm doing this thing, that will help support and enforce the dietary discipline and workout regimen necessary to my success. Some of the kids at work are aware, my friends are aware, Eyes Are Watching...

This is what I accomplished in 2006

Let's see if I can do it, again, a little bit better, this time. In 2006, I returned home with a Bronze Medal; in 2010, Gold?

We shall see: I'm ON it!

Meanwhile, I have received my first "reviews" from customers at Le Marche d'Pomme; both on the same day, last week, and BOTH extremely positive with uniformly top ratings from people whom I'd introduced to the Wonders of le Pomme. Once inside those walls, I do have a great time with the others on the Team and most especially with the clientele. When I can (as I do) set aside concerns for survival, the need for exercise of my talents and skills and desire for the realization of my professional goals, I can thoroughly enjoy myself, there.

I don't know that there is a future for me there; not at this level, in any case. I have sights set on something far higher in that company, but am told this leap is virtually impossible to accomplish. This dynamic hasn't stopped me, before (or has it!?).

In any case, I continue to market myself to Advertising, PR, Branding and Creative Agencies as well as seeking out Independent Projects. I must continue with this effort until something materializes.

Meanwhile, if you see me slowing my pace as I pass a Bakery or Burger King, INTERVENE!

Want to be sure that THIS does not happen:

  1. Love it! You have a goal...one that I know you will attain, given your discipline and your knowledge of building a logistical path to that goal. Can't wait to see/hear more about the results as you go along! :-)
